About Us

Alice Firebrace

Alice worked as a theatrical prop maker for institutions such as Shakespeare's Globe, the Young Vic and the Almeida, in documentary production and research for the arts and activism company Fuuse, and for the participatory arts charity Streetwise Opera as office manager. She also worked as a stage manager, mainly for children's promenade theatre before turning her attentions to Environmentalism.

Now working towards an MSc in Environment, Politics and Society at Edinburgh University she has a particular interest in craft and consumerism, behaviour change through the arts, and in the link between human flourishing and environmental protection.

Alice juggles badly and is a chain tea drinker.

Michael Mackenzie

Michael studied English and Scottish Literature for his undergraduate degree, and became very interested in contemporary Scottish "In Yer Face" theatre and its use of shock tactics to convey political messages.

Recycling and waste reduction have been a pet peeve for Michael since living in Japan, where he witnessed better waste management than he'd thought possible - but at the same time more packaging and disposable chopsticks than made sense! He has been interested in addressing cultures of waste production ever since.

Michael studies on the MSc programme Global Environment, Politics and Society at the University of Edinburgh, with particular interests in policy approaches to behavioural change and innovative models of renewable community energy.

Michael is also a performer in a prominent Japanese "taiko" drumming group: another overhang from his stint in Tokyo!

 Siri Pantzar

Siri was schooled in the Kallio Upper Secondary School for Performing Arts in Helsinki, Finland, with a particular interest in bringing arts and performance into unusual spaces. After moving to Scotland in 2011 she has been regularly involved in Beltane Fire Society, a community performing arts charity.

Siri started her environmental work in The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation as a fundraiser and also briefly worked as a conservation volunteer in the South-West USA. Currently she is studying an MSc in Global Environment, Politics and Society and her particular focus areas are in climate change and the societal and cultural barriers to sustainable policies.

Siri is an Operational Member of 2050 Climate Group and plays djembe and percussion in The Beastie Drummers.
